Who We Are

What is KH&LA?

Founded in 1930, the Kentucky Hotel and Lodging Association is a voluntary non profit organization made up of business people and allied and associate professionals. Our members recognize they have a stake in the hospitality business and have joined together to advance the industry and to enhance it. Together we coordinate ideas, energy and financial resources to accomplish collectively the success none of us could achieve individually.

A Board of Directors representing the members sets policies and goals. The Board keeps in constant touch with the membership to be sure we are in touch with our industry.

OUR MISSION
The primary mission of the Kentucky Hotel and Lodging Association is to provide legislative support for its members, plus beneficial informational services, tourism promotion, educational seminars and fraternalism in our industry.

Legislative Support
Our statewide legislative network helps to protect your interests in both Frankfort and Washington. During the past years, countless numbers of adverse legislative bills have been defeated, saving our industry millions of dollars.

Industry Information
Our newsletters bring owners and managers up-to-date on occupancy trends, personnel changes, state and federal rules and regulations, special reports, trends and other information helpful to the manager. Most of this information would not be available to the hotel and lodging member otherwise.

Educational Seminars/Promotion of Certification
We provide leadership for seminars for our members on topics of importance to our industry. Additionally, we have a reimbursement program for members that will give back up to 50% of the cost of certification programs with EI plus special pricing of EI training materials.

Marketing Services & Kentucky Vacation Guide Tour Map
Kentucky Travel and Lodging Map: 200,000 copes of the KH&LA membership directory and map are published and distributed each year.  100,000 copies of the spring/summer edition and 100,000 copies of in the fall/winter edition.

Research
During the past years, we have developed an extensive research file for the benefit of our members on several hundred items and problems our industry faces.

Tourism Support
The Kentucky Hotel and Lodging Association is one of the original founders of the Kentucky Tourism Council, whose primary mission is the promotion of tourist business for the hospitality industry.

Bottom Line Support
Special services include our Allied Members, who provide a collection agency, an insurance agency, excellent bank card programs, an idea center at our annual meetings, availability of the best products and services for our members, plus numerous other services.

Other Services
We have many other services such as telephone consultation, jobs network, Internet, and check verification, available to you at a discounted rate, saving you a great deal more than your investment.
